Come to the table.

In the Arab world, nobody eats alone and nobody leaves hungry. Our gatherings are small, unhurried and open to everyone: a seat at the table, a cup of tea, and the company of people you haven’t met yet.

TERWIAH | ترويقة
The Levantine breakfast table

The breakfast table is resting for now. Terwiah will return — join the list below and you’ll be the first to know when the table is set again.

VOICES FROM SWANA
The Levantea book club, with a cultural twist · Last Wednesday of every month

Each month we read a writer from SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa), a region stretching from Morocco to Iran, Turkey to Sudan, with many languages and countless stories. The table travels with the book: we serve the teas and sweets of the author’s home country, so you taste the place you’ve been reading about. You’ll find no homework pressure and no wrong answers, just good books and better conversation.

Next book: The last girl by Nadia Murad (Iraq)
In 2014, ISIS attacked Nadia Murad’s village in northern Iraq. She was 21. The Last Girl is her account of captivity, escape and the fight for justice that led to the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018. It’s a hard, powerful read about bearing witness and being heard.
“A note before you book: the book describes sexual violence and genocide in detail.”
When: Wednesday 25 November, 10:00–11:30am
Where: Northcote Road, SW11. The full address is sent with your booking.
Price: £15

Come even if you haven’t finished the book.
